April / June 2017 mail art post selection

It was a lovely month or so for mail art as I had quite a bit of down time to indulge in. There were many days in which I could sit in my favourite cafes in Melbourne and collage and write to my heart's content. The good thing about free time was that I could occupy some cafe table space, say, after lunch, and not worry that I was taking up table space during busy periods. I always get up and leave if there are no free tables and I've been camped awhile. 

It was perfect timing as, in my opinion, Melbourne inner city is at the height of its beauty in the Autumn - slightly slower moving and bundled up, atmospheric low clouds, heady earthy air and the gorgeous golden leaves around its Victorian and Federation architecture.

Mail art is a simple way I can think of to make someone happy. I love it for that reason. The feeling of receiving a letter is a pure joy. I love to make little packages that may enhance that pleasure. I'm blessed with a wonderful collection of thought-provoking pen pals from various backgrounds.
